Why Get Tested for Low Testosterone?

To determine abnormal testosterone levels in both males and females. In males a low testosterone level may help to explain difficulty having or maintaining an erection (ED - Erectile dysfunction) or soft erections. Male fertility problems and low sperm count may prevent your partner from getting pregnant. Delayed puberty in adolescence. In females, a high level of testosterone may cause the appearance of masculine features, inability to get pregnant, or as a marker for ovarian health concerns.

When to Get a Low Testosterone Test?

• If you are male and you think you may be infertile or if you are unable to get or maintain an erection
• If you are female and have nos menstruation, are developing male traits, such as a very low voice, excessive body hair or inability to get pregnant
• If you are male or female and experience a decreased sex drive or loss of libido
• Infertility in both men and women
• Testicular tumors in men
